The Flathead Valley in Northwest Montana is home to many Marines. In 2008, a few of us decided to get together to celebrate our common experience of service in the Marine Corps. We now meet each month and include over a hundred Jarheads in the group.
Our group includes enlisted and officers, infantry, pilots, artillery, avionics, intel, supply, motorT, etc. Some saw combat, others didn’t. Some served four years and others forty. Our service spans from WWII to Afghanistan, including Korea, Vietnam and everywhere else Marines have served during the past seventy years, which represents close to a third of the entire history of the Corps.
All of us are proud of our common service and are grateful to the Marine Corps for providing a platform that changed us into better men and citizens.
Above all, we remember that the Marine Corps is a tight fraternity, and for the rest of our lives we will find strength and common ground with those who have gone with us, before us and after us.
Whether you live here or are just passing through the beautiful Flathead Valley of Montana, please stop by our Happy Hour and meet some of your brothers-in-arms. We get together on a very informal basis the first Wednesday of every month at the Kalispell VFW, 330 1st Avenue West, from 1700 to 1900. Along with Marines and their spouses, we welcome any Navy corpsmen, docs and chaplains who served with Marines.
